I'm kind of indifferent to the whole helmet law deal. I live in MD and we are required to wear helmets. But when i go to Daytona in the spring for bike week i usually dont have it on when im out. i am well aware of the consequenses for not wearing a helmet, but i dont let it get to me when i dont have it on. if you start worrying about going down when you are riding you prob will just because you have your mind on something else rather than riding.

I have heard that MD might be changing their helmet laws. somewhere i read that helmets wont be required for people who have been riding for X number of years. even then i would still wear my lid when riding. it is more comfortable.

haha...yeah i realized that after i posted it. what i ment was that when im down if FL most of the rides i take are short. and being that it is such a large bike event, motorists are more aware of us riders. there are alot less accidents down there than you would think. now when i am going for long rides down there i always suit up and put on the helmet.

where i live bikers arent as common, so motorists dont really look out for us. as soon as i get on my bike i notice how bad a lot of the drivers are around my area.

i guess that kind of clears it up i hope.

Every once in a while I will go down the street and back without a helmet and that is so that I can listen for an issue. Other than that, it is always on.

Dude the first thing I thought when i saw the title of the thread was "Is someone actually enough of a dumb f*ck to ask that question?" No offense intended, I'm just saying, that was my first thought. Wear a helmet dude. Helmets have come so far in the areas of comfort and style (not to mention safety) that it really isn't worth not wearing one. Personally, I love my helmet and how it looks with the bike. If I didn't like my helmet, I wouldn't have bought it. I bought it to wear it. So I wear it.

Imagine how nice it will feel when your head experiences the big black cheese-grater first hand.

It's your choice man. Make the right one.

I live in a small town (pop. 700). I work a block from my house, so i usually don't wear my helmet to work. Anytime i leave town my helmet is on!

^^^ Yeah thats fine because not one of those 700 people can hit you in such a short distance LOL! Everyone that doesn't want to wear your helmets DON'T WEAR THEM! It is a little thing called thinning the heard. I would love to live in the fantasy world where people don't get hurt from crashing. Please DO WEAR A CONDOM.
