Default Hand signals

I keep forgetting to post this... but a few months back, I was out with a few buddies riding well into the triple digits. Not racing, but I was up front so I was the first one to be seen. We were on I64 in very mild traffic so we could be seen for miles. A passing group of Harleys were about to pass us going the other direction. When they did, I noticed several of them making a fist and placing it on top of their skull buckets. Why, I don't know... the first thing that popped in my head was cop!!!! I rolled off the throttle and coasted back to the usually 10/15 over the speed limit with the rest of the traffic. I was right. About two miles, or at the speed we were traveling... less than a minute, a state trooper was in the medium facing us. Talk about one hell of a ticket they just saved us.

Two points:

1. Harley guys warning a crotch rocket about a speed trap, nice.

2. Anyone ever run into this signal? It worked on me and I had never heard of it or thought about it before.

Around here it's tapping on yee olde noggin to denote po-po presence. And like L8X said "patting the air below the seat" means slow down -- but usually that one's for when you're riding with peeps and you're out in front.

Generally the Harley crowd gives me different signals -- which I'm proud to return

i have never seen or heard of the hand on the helmet but I have seen the patting the air right before my eyes saved me from probably losing my license. (doing about 115 in a 55mph zone)
