Great bikes of yesterday, true icons!!
If you had to pick a bike from the past to own, either as your everyday or as a classic to sit in the garage with your everyday mount
What would you choose??
I would go for this ... the Honda RC30 ... to me it is just achingly beautiful and I would not care how dated it felt to ride or how uncomfortable ... I could gaze at this bike for hours and I would love a photoshoot with one in my area ... this RC30 is more than 20 years old but still looks amazing and even it's dated look being more slabby and angular has a very sexy appeal to me ... a gorgeous bike from a bygone time :-)
And of course red/white and blue is just the clincher :-)

Konamtbdjc I guess the original R1 can be considered a modern classic too as are the early Firebaldes in my book ... could you do us a favour and resize
that picture thought to about 800 or 1024 pixels wide?? :-)
The old CBX1000 6 cylinder is/was an absolute cult bike here in the UK ... there is a whole owners club too and I have seen plenty in the flesh,
one of those bikes that may seem a bit pointless today ..heavy and slow compared to even a good 600 but absolute oodles of charisma and X factor!! :-)
Here you go, ... beautiful classic bike in classic UJM style :-)

I don't know, Jules... I think you pretty much nailed it with the old VFRR. I have always loved the look of those old girls (right down to the old school wings.. ) Same with the regular VFR, although I don't like the front end on the pre-86.
However, the ol' 1000cc 'Cane will always have a spot in my heart. I remember the day I rode my old 1980 XR80 to the bike shop to hang with the "big boys" (I was probably 9 or 10 at the time) and I pulled in to find a brand new Hurricane parked out front. It was the most badass bike I'd ever seen. The bike shop owner's son had just picked it up from the dealer that day, and all the shop guys were gathered around it like it was the holy grail...lol..
One of the guys says "What do you think of that!", and I probably told him it was "rad".... LMAO!
Honestly, I was scared to go near the dam thing.... but I knew I wanted one...

Lets not forget the icon that put a million or so bums on Honda's, along with the phrase "You meet nicest people on a Honda". (Which in Australia a least, meant that every Jap bike rider was fair game from anyone not riding Jap bikes.)
What we got:
What Mr Honda really wanted:
For me though (& their have been some great bikes) for icon status. Were the Turbo's, Bells & Whistles bikes for the masses.
What was amazing about these bikes was what bikes manufacturer based them on.

sorry about that ill just delete the picture... (it took so long to download this thread on my laptop too haha) that was actually my first time posting a picture I looked at the 'forum how to' guide to do it and idk how to down size it
And I do really like the bike you picked Jules what year is that?
The first R1 is classic enough for me, idk too many older bikes thats why. But I would love to have one...
A guy is selling one for $3600. Its a possibility for me if I can talk him down.
Also, that turbo Honda is too cool
