Heh, funny that. I remember when the Euro was taken into use here in 2003 there were 1 and 2 cent coins, which were so utterly useless they disappeared pretty quickly cause neither the shops or the customers wanted them. I remember some old folks say that they were somewhat similiar in value as scrap metal (not really, but propably close) people drilled holes in them and made decorations and washers out of them. So they were put out of use. The prices are still like 2,93 how they were when the currency changed because one euro were 5,95 Marks, and they still bill you like that if you're buying with a card, and rounds them if with cash.
