The new Kawasaki 250 isn't a bad looking bike at all, and is good for starters. If you have no riding experience it is a great idea to start out on one. Also, they have decent resale value for when you are ready to move up. Everyone is different so it's hard to say whether you can handle a 600 or not. I'll leave it at that.

Since you didn't think searching was a good idea (it's been covered a gazillion freaking times) then by all means start o a big ol' sexy 600 CBR thing. Ride fast, ride hard and be sure your insurance is paid up...you're gonna need it.

Where do they find these people?

It may be too much. In all seriousness, I forget what thread last year made me decide to NEVER respond to the noob 600 question in a positive. I remember it was a very sad first week death or something like that and it sounded very much avoidable.

The problem with a bike that is too much you could be dead or maimed because you didn't wait a year or fora few thousand miles of practice on a smaller (and just as much fun) bike, plus dropping an older bike is cheap, a fully faired sportbike can cost thousands to insure and repair. Many of us have started on a new 600 but some of us didn't make it very long.

No matter what else you hear, starting smaller/slower than a modern 600 is best.

Well I ain't gonna sugar coat it for you. If you've never rode a motorcycle YES IT'S TOO MUCH BIKE!!! For years a 750 was a HUGE bike and that was all anybody needed. Most folks rode around on 250s,350s and 450s. Only in the last 10-15yrs. has the obsession with bigger faster bikes come along and induce a stigma that you need a 600+ cc bike in order to ride. There are WAY too many people riding bikes they can't handle and it's not just sportbikes. If you want a 600cc bike as a first ride buy a Suzuki Boulevard S40. If you want a sportbike buy a 250 and spend the money you save covering your *** in gear to keep the gravel out and the mushy stuff in.

In my opinion it is not too much if you learn how to ride it before you venture out into the heavy traffic. My first venture onto a bike was a ninja 250 and my knees felt like they were in my chest. -way too small. Then I rode a Nighthawk 600 which was very comfortable yet had decent power. i took a break for like 8 years and now own an CBR600. The CBR does have more power, but as long as you aren't hammering the throttle it is no different than any other bike.

It all depends on how you ride. I have been riding qauds and dirt bikes since I was 6 and i'm now 30. When I went to street I started on a 250 for a few months and got my endorsment on it as well. Then I moved up to the old F4 and have done good since. I know a girl that has a 2007 Ninja 250 and has taken the class and even has her endorsment and can't ride for **** and has no bizz on a bike.

Like was said a 600 is only as fast as you twist the throttle, but it's easy and tempting the twist it all the time. When you were young you had the crawl before you walked so think of riding in that manor.

What are you guys talking about? This guy needs a 1KRR. You'll be bored with a 250 or 600 in a week. [8D]

just for safe measure.... \sarcasm
