50 Cent and Kanye West do not represent hip hop! They represent mainstream - MTV- 16 year old birthday party - zero orginality - toliet music.

I wish people wouldn't stereo type or generalize real hip hop music with that crap.

HIP HOP WILL NEVER DIE because there are millions of people who appreciate real hip hop!

+1! Like Chamillionaire, TI, Chingy, etc.

I do think that the whole hip hop/rap scene has been disappointing since it has become more mainstream. There will never be another Wu-Tang clan, but there are still some solid artists that are still around like Aesop Rock (besides that damn iTunes+Nike collab) and MF Doom (aka Madvillain, aka Viktor Vaughn) that can still rhyme.

there is a big difference between hip-hop and (commercial) rap....

Hip-Hop is mostly poetry put to a beat. Rap is the crap put out by 50 cent and crew.....

I do not really like to listen to cRAP, hip hop, r&b, etc, however, I do not think it will go away. Hip hop was around at the time of disco. It is instilled in American culture. I took a class on campus on early hip hop that included its roots back to the bronx and even before that with different influential forms from around the world. The class also included dance forms like b-boying, popn and lockn, etc, that we were able to learn and the original crews like the rock steady crew that was so influential to the lifestyle. Comparing hip hop to disco is not true. Disco can more be compared to the Marcarena.

Did you seriously just compare hip hop to disco? Seriously? SERIOUSLY???

Hip hop has already lasted more than 3 times the disco era.
