Normally though, my insurance goes up by about 4 bucks a month annually, but it's been doing that long before I ever bought a bike, but a $4/month increase every year or so is nothing compared to being boned in the *** by Progressive or the Gecko.
Hell, my Comcast bill is higher than my insurance by $40 bucks/month..........so I have nowhere to complain.

It's an '03. All you need is liability. Full coverage wont be somewhat ok till your 25.
I'm 23 and switched to All State. Paying around $500 yr w/ unisured motorist (thats the price killer there). Even being 23 with a clean record doesnt get you cheap full coverage.
If I went full coverage I could buy another used bike in 2 - 3 years.

I paid 2750 for my bike though, no way in hell am i paying 1,300 (what they wanted for full, im 19, i guess that's a problem) for it to be insured. If I down it, oh well, im just concerned about my own safety (which is why I REALLY need to look into gear)
I went with GEICO, and pay $500 a year for liability, uninsured, underinsured coverage on my 954. Full coverage with a $500 deductible would run me about $700. I've heard good things about State Farm though, my friend has full coverage on his 03 CBR600RR and pays about $600.
You might want to try and take the MSF course. With the certificate most insurance companies will give something around a 10-15% discount with the certification. You can also try for the multiple vehicle discount and put your car(s) and bike on the same policy.
+1 on securing a personal loan versus a motorcycle loan. Then you don't have to carry full coverage. The only thing that could suck is that if something happens, you're still responsible for the full balance on the loan, along with whatever damage to your bike.
Prime example of how squids affect insurance rates. Insurance companies look at age, type of bike and all they see is high risk. Doesn't matter if you're a good rider or not.

All they have to do is read the forums here and see the *I ran from the popo* or *I stunt in traffic* or better yet the *Top Speed* threads and they can judge for themselves.

^^exactly. The internet and media make it really easy for them to get statistics on age groups, and types of bikes to base their rates on. If you were to try and get insurance on a VTX1300, versus a CBR1krrthe difference is huge.
