Rebuilt a couple of 5/7's and a 10/12 in my youth.
Many years later, I climbed aboard a paraffin powered tractor, and wondered why I felt right at home.....
+1 Pacemaker - here, it's the lifestyle they're buying.....[X(]

My dad lives next door to me and he's got a Sportster 1250 that I ride now and then. I used to have a Honda Shadow myself, and I do have to admit that cruisers are a far more comfortable ride...in the end, I enjoy riding them now and then, but I couldn't own one at this stage in my life. I can see myself being on a cruiser some day...not necessarily a Harley. My next bike WILL be a Ducati 848 or 1098 though, but that's a few years off.

My friend has a '84 Honda VT500C Shadow. Most uncomfortable ride I've ever had.

I never rode a Harley, but I rode a friend's Suzuki 1400 Intruder a time or two. It was a nice cushy comfy ride with plenty of torque and power. The only problem was that I couldn't find the damn footpegs (never thought to look in front of my knees) and I kept overreving the motor...lol. After I got on to it, it wasn't bad at all and I can see the allure of highway pegs on long trips. I still prefer my nice tight CBR, though, by a wide margin.

I'd be okay with riding a cruiser if it didn't have those ridiculous fart pipes.
I like the sound of a stock Harley, but all the aftermarket pipes do sound dopey. I wouldn't mind having a cruiser for riding two up, the pegs on my bike kinda scrunch up my girlfriends legs too much.

I don't even know where to begin with your post CBRClassic and how wrong most of your points are, so I can only hope that your view on other bikes some day expands. Or hope that you are joking for the most part.

I've owned Harleys for the majority of my riding career. I just felt the needfor more agility and precision, which is why I went to my first sport bike, my cbr1000rr (08). Just had it four months, but it is great! The Harleys were great bikes as well, but a different style of riding. As was said in this thread, it depends what type of riding you want to do. I will own another someday, but most likely not without keeping the sport bike, I'm now addicted...

That's what I did with my boy's Softail. I don't really see the appeal of those bikes, but that's OK. To each his own.

I did see a beautiful panhead today, when I was riding back from a jobsite. This isn't the actual one I saw, but very close:
