Dropped my bike today!!
 

i just bought a 03 600rr and ried backing up (after parking on a slant) and i lost footing and layed it down for my first time. she was flawless until now! has a scuff on the back fairing, mirror, crank case, and front fairing!

NOOO! im very upset about this :icon_rain: (i owned a F2 last year turd that i layed down a couple times but didnt care).

Is there anything i can do to prevent this? :(

... not drop it? I'm not trying to be a smart ass but that's the basics. Avoid putting yourself in a situation where you might drop it. I will always try to park in a flat area, with lots of space and no gravel etc to lose my footing on.

When I park somewhere I try to think ahead of how difficult it might be to get out of where I'll park it. Sometimes, I will back into a space instead of pulling straight in.

If you're in an awkward spot it might be better to not get on the bike when you're ready to leave but shift it into neutral and walk beside it with both hands firmly on the grips as you maneuver it into a better position before sitting down on it and starting it.

Thanks for the info I'm going to take it a little slower now and try to keep it up right! Are there sliders available to put on the 03/04 600rr?

Hi f2cbr7700, if the ground is uneven or slippery, I always get off to manouver the bike and always flick the sidestand down as a safeguard.

You shouldn't ever park a bike down hill, if parking uphill put it in gear. But like others said look for a flat clean surface, easier said then done though.
