And that $550 helmet isnt going to protect you any better than a $150 Snell/DOT approved helmet so dont waste your $$ guys!! Its all hyped up, overpriced, and for what, just to "say" it cost $550 to everybody. Is it really worth it??

Lighter weight is a HUGE plus. I go on very long rides. and THERE IS a difference.

Ventilation is also another important factor.

And wind noise.

These are all very important for me, and you do get what you pay for. I've had many helmets. HJC / Scorpions / Shoei / Arai there is indeed a difference. Anyone who has used different price point helmets can tell you that.

Granted you don't have to pay the extra premium for the latest and greatest if you don't want to, but if you can, go for it.

Also I agree $50 or $550 always get a DOT / Snell.

+1, but comfort n quality is key I wouldnt trust nor wear a $50 helmet from walmart. I normally pay between $150 - $300 for my helmets now. All depends on how much I can afford at the time.

I too believe you get what you pay for. So when it comes time to get my riding gear you can bet I won't cheap out. Also like the feel of Shoei a lot. They feel great on and don't seem to get uncomfortable.
