A different kind of track day
So I was fortunate enough to be invited to drive at Talladega today. It was a pretty awesome experience. 1st we rode with a driver for five laps. Then we got to drive by ourselves. I had an instructor up in the crows nest telling me where to be on the track. I must say those 33° banked corners can be a little intimidating at first. The better you get, the more the instructor raises you rev limitor. It felt like I no more got into the groove and the session was over. It was a blast. Top speed was 159.86 mph. I can't wait to do it again.

Sounds like a blast! Any pics?

Unfortunately, no. The people that I knew and would trust to keep my phone and take pictures were out on the track the same time I was. They had this deal where you could buy pictures, but I wasn't shelling out close to 100 bucks for that.

Oh well, it's the experience that counts, right?

you lucky dog!

Yea, my wife is getting sick of hearing about it. :)
Some people lose thier forutunes to gambling, some to loose women, some to drugs. If I did have a fortune, I'm pretty sure I would lose it by driving around a track at pay per lap high speeds. :) |
