Deal? on 06 CBR 1000RR
I love the look of the older ones, but after riding one I didnt really care for it. The seat is quite a bit higher and of course the bars are lower which creates a very aggressive seating position. Now if I were use to it may not be as bad, but thats was my experience. I like the way the 08+ felt better
I wouldnt pay $6500 for an 06, especially when you can buy a leftover 09 for about $1k more, actually saw one for sale when i got my bike for $7400.
I just saw an 07 for sale for $5500 which seems like a great deal....Being the end of the season I wouldn't expect to pay top dollar for a bike...I know the market is different depending on location but I have saw quite a few 07's listed for around $5k, heres one example. http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/mcy/2021445080.html
I have sat on an 06, and I agree with what Playful said, the stance is really aggressive and the seat is too damn high lol. My 09 just feels at home compared to the 06 I was on.
My buddy is currently looking for his first streetbike, so i have been helping him out...hes picky as hell! we have went and looked at 7 bikes and he has walked away from all 7....my first bike I went and looked at got a killer deal rode it for 4 years and 17k miles later AND still made $500 off of it
Edit, I meant $5500, not $4500...

But the price seems a bit high. Im not to informed on 1ks though because ive never really looked into them.
DAYUM JP! What did i do to you? lol
I just picked up an '05 with 15,ooo miles on it for $4,300. Im the third owner, previous owners both were in their forties. No power mods (well a slip on) but tasteful adds.
I would say go for it, although there has to be a better deal out there with it being the end of the season. There is an 05 with 7,000 miles in pittsburg i got him down to $4,800. These things are a friggin power house man. its ridiculous. Im in love already. I dont really know your riding experience but watch it in 1st gear...
Its nice for two up also. the breaks handle the weight nicely, and it doesnt drag your accel. down like on the 600.
On a personal note tho, the thing scares the living bejesus out of me. I got use to the 600 real quick and it started feeling slow. I dont know how people get use to the 1000's lol

Hmm - I hear you guys. I wouldn't buy it for 6,500 - but my L337 negotiating skills would get that down.
I'm also looking at an 08 600rr(5,700 obo) and a 09 600rr(7,200 obo).
Ahhhh decisions decisions. I have not spent any decent amount of time on the 06-07 1000's. but I have been on my friends 08 600rr and I enjoy it very much.

unless you plan on taking the 1k to the track I would go with the 600.....My bike feels like wasted power on the streets...I almost went with the 1k but I couldnt get over the style....I wanted it for the drag strip though....but the insurance on the 1k compared to the 600 is insanely different, I pay $32/mo, the 1k was going to be over $200/mo...
Man I just went out with my buddy with a Ducati monster 1k.
I just LOVE the twisties. I think i'm going to keep looking for a 600rr
Edit - I haven't had as much fun on isabelle in a while. Maybe because I've been debating getting rid of her, or just the fact my buddy and I were really pushing it, but man I just had a blast.

The difference in insurance can be an issue with some companies. But, I paid 35 a month for my wifes 636, and 42 a month for my 1000RR. I use Statefarm, which they do not have a surcharge for large displacement bikes.
I guess owning a liter bike for over 5 years now, I get kind of tired of 600 riders bashing liter bikes. Not that you were bashing N8Dawg, and I certainly don't mean to take any frustration out on you. I just think the mentality of a liter bike being too much for the street is an invalid argument. After all, the same could be argued for 125cc bikes compared to 600cc bikes.

again N8dawg, if I came across harsh towards you, I didn't intend to. Just trying to state my opinion.
