worth my life no, but considering I just barely break even every month supporting my wife, 8 month old baby girl, and bills...

itll have to do for now i suppose....

i only ride during riding season, if its nice out, in pristeen weather conditions, and only from work to home (3 or 4 miles)

i hit top speed of 20 between those two places.... i know im taking a chance of someone else hitting me but you gotta do what you gotta do i suppose

I follow ATGATT myself. With very few exceptions. Jacket 100% of the time, Helmet 100% of the time, Gloves 100% of the time, Boots 60% of the time (pain in the *** to walk around campus in boots). If I am hitting the twisties it is 100% gear 100% of the time.

I guess people dont think it can happen to them. I dont know why, but people assume that they are invulnerable on their bike.

As i said, this isn't a dig and i know how you feel as my little girls now 4 and my wifes just got back to work but imho when you get the chance to get your next purchase, think of your girls and get some gear

I wear gloves, helmet, jeans, and jacket. Full leathers are sweet but isn't it a hassle to put on for a 30 minute ride?

People have many reasons for not wearing certain gear. Mostly comfort is the case, but U really shouldnt judge people or point fingers. They have the freedom to do what they like and as long as they arent pushing any of their habits on you, why should you push yours on them???

My 2 cents.

Z, are you still in school? i think you posted once you were an engineering major but i cant remember. aslo dont underestimate the power of a piggie bank. I remember when i only carried cash on me i could spare up another 100 dollars a month in change.

I have been riding engines since i was eight. For me not having the gear on makes for a very unsettling feeling. If i dont wear a helmet the engine sounds bad, and if i dont wear gloves my hands the bars/levers feel off and i get the feeling of no control. I can ride without a jacket but rarely do. I use to only use my mesh jacket but just got my first textile so im ready for the 3 seasons now. I also just got a pair of those shift riding shoes. They are not boots but they definitely offer more protection than my nikes.

I guess its the same as driving a car barefoot. it makes the maching feel more like death. and unfortuantely, my best riding buddy doesnt wear a jacket. only when we are practicing wheelies (not BP stuff, only if i had a cage etc...) or screwing around. The sad thing is he went down at 20 mph with it on, realized it saved his shoulder and still wont wear it really. i rip on him all the time to no avail.

some people have to learn the hard way man and i also think it matters how you were brought up. if you had a dirtbike as a little kid you are going to crash hands down, it hurts on grass, its gonna hurt way more on pavement

There are people that reasonably don't wear all the gear ( I put Z in this category) , and there are people that unreasonably don't wear all the gear.

I would try and get at least boots though. I don't know if it's the fact that I'm a runner, but the idea of my ankles feet or shins being tweaked at all scares the **** out of me.

I personally bought all the gear at the same time as my bike, albeit my mom helped me (I paid her back in full) at the time because it's just one of those things I thought I needed to do.

What shoes did you get?

_Z_ -plus you obv. havent been around here long enough to know but I dont ever ride my bikes psh I just let them sit there
+1 for the truth. lol

But in reality people have there own reasons for not wearing gear and Z'z is a legit reason in my book. Wife and kids come first then myself. When i first got my bike i had jeans, work boots, and a jacket that was to big.

Up untill a few weeks ago i work my adios when i rode. If i were going to be hitting the twistys i would wear my textile jacket, A* gloves, lid, and jeans and work boots but even those offer little protection.

Now when i ride im always wearing my A* gloves, A* chest/back protector, shift kickers, joe rocket textile, and jeans.

During the summer though when its 105 degrees with 95% humidty and your in traffic not moving youll wish you didnt have that jacket on. I ride without one when i take a 1-2 mile trip but any longer i wear my gear.
