it is what it is .. its like someone asking me if i get offended when they call me a "white boy" i am a white boy so no it doesnt offend me ... i dont find the term "crotch rocket" to be demeaning but rather a term used by those who dont actually know what my bike is.... its my job then to educate them and say its a 2000 Honda Cbr 929RR .....and yes its fast.. yes it can wheelie for 40 miles while doing 150mph while drinkin my starbucks ... and no you cant have a ride but your hot friend can

Personally I don't take much heed to what people say about my bike...now if they direct it my direction that's a different story. As far as the term crotch rocket goes,it's a derogatory term used by those who don't like or appreciate sport bikes. Thesepeople know nothing about sport bikes and couldn't tell one from another. They don't care, butthey have an opinionthey like to voice to possibly get a rise from sport bike riders.

So much negativity in the world today. I find myself getting caught in the trap sometimes, I vent , I complain and it gets me nowhere. That's when I get on my bike, crank up the tunes and forget all about this messed up world.

Why does it annoy ya'll? ...
It doesn't really annoy me but I could do without it. It's not the term itself but how it is used in a derogatory manner that's made the term less desirable and as a result I wouldn't mind if the term went away. It's even used in a derogatory manner by some cruiser types. Example;

Cruiser boy: Oh, you ride a bike too? What kind of bike you got?
El Kewl: CBR 954rr
Cruiser boy: Oh, one of those crotch rockets [ lip slightly curls in disgust .. eyes now slightly roll with the "I want to end this discussion now" look ]

so, yeah, I don't get annoyed by the term but could do w/out it. it's used like the "n" word of the m/c community. thx

nicely put havoc.A guy i work with (harley rider) always asks me why im not carrying a ***** eating a bowl of rice on the back seat, i just do my impression of a harley rider and ride with one hand and work on the bike with the other.

every person who has ever called my bike a crotch rocket has always been someone who i know has no clue about motorcycles...i dont think its a derogatory term as much as it is just someone who doesnt know any better...what better way to introduce someone to the world of motorcycles then to strike up a conversation about bikesafter hearing "nice crotch rocket"

If someone calls it a crotch rocket I know they don't ride. I don't get offended, but half of my brain shuts down and I quitpaying close attentionto anything they have to say from that point on.
So non-riders aren't worth your time? Wow, just wow.

It's odd so many of you don't like the term. If motorcycles come up in conversation i say crotch rocket, just because no one else knows what a CBR is...

Yet another thing people think needs to be "politically correct-isized"..... Boo.

People get offended too easily nowadays.

"Big wow" may have been more effective here.I don't dislike non-riders by any means, but I alsoam not going to make it mypersonal crusadeto educate everyone I speak to. I love motorcycles, and I love talking about them. If I were talking to myDad and he used the term "crotch rocket",my eyes would glaze over a little with him, too (and he is my hero). I find I am more stimulated about a subject when the other member of the conversationalso exhibits at least a passing interest or a modicum of understanding about said topic. "Crotch rocket" implies to me that the individualdisplays neitherof the aforementioned requirements to peak my interest in a conversation about motorcycles. However, that very same person may want to talk about how cool boobies are, and my attention would once again be peaked. Ahhhhhh...........booooobies.
