Thinking that something won't happen is a very perverse way of thinking, in real life, there are factors and variables that you cannot and will not ever control, and to think otherwise is futile. Find someone who has ridden a bike for 50 years and not crashed once...the first time i see them i will dropkick them off the bike...bet they didn't see that coming!!!!!

All very well said, but I still think if you ride, you will eventually go down. Odds are against us out on the road. All we can do is improve our skills n wear all our gear n pray we never need it. And yes alot is controllable n avoidable n more so with more skill n experience. But the inevitable is just that inevitable. We are human, and just as you did Jules, we all have lapse in our thinking n do dumb shyt. Sadly we dont realize its dumb til afterwards and that is human nature. And thats why going down is inevitable.
