Default Crashed bike last week

First time down, and it was a bitch.

Was hitting a turn, brought the bike down pretty low and next thing I knew I was sliding. Back end slipped out and all I saw was the fall. Police report says it was due to gravel, but I honestly don't know what happened. Not the first time I've brought the bike that low. It seems the more you push yourself on a bike the more likely to crash.

But I wasn't wearing a jacket, just a t-shirt and I got road rash on my back, arm, knee and ankle. No broken bones nothing.

It's been close to two weeks now and I've had the road rash covered with a special type of bandage dressing thats supposedly the best out. I took the bandages off and the area of road rash are a light pink.

My question is, will new skin form or will it stay pink forever? I'd really hate to see it stay like this.

Do I need to cover up the pink areas? Or should I just leave it as-is?

Insurance will take care of the bike.

Honda dealership says it will cost about $2100 of parts, so I doubt it's going to be totalled. So no 1000RR.

But ya, I will always wear a jacket from now and on.

If it's the bandages the DR's give ya that have the special medicine on 'em then keep them on -- they have some stuff that's supposed to reduce scarring. Ya never can tell about whether it'll go back to normal or not -- I've got scars that have lasted over 20 years from road rash -- others went away in 6 months. Glad it wasn't any worse. Not that road rash isn't bad enough[:@]

damn, on the bright side, its just the skin. Broken bones and internal injuries and physical therapy suck ***.

Also, the damage doesn't look too bad on your bike. Most slides lose a lot more plastic than that. I always ride with at least textile jacket and jeans and gloves and helmet of course, but 95% of the time I ride even with ballistic pants. You really never know. Plus around my area the potholes and construction are goin ape****, so lots of really bad road conditions.

Glad to hear it was only minor, and the rash will have some **** that lasts forever. I have it on my wrist from like 10 years ago and its still a lil gnarled from sliding and chewing through some skin cuz you always put your arm out to guard your body while sliding. laying flat is about best way to slow down, more surface area.

I really like riding with full gear, specially cuz my jacket zips to my pants, wont slide and get back rash, cuz that hurts and ITCHES like a SOB
