cold air intake?!

i just bought a cold air intake for my truck.. any major DON'TS when installing it??

i figured someone on here would have an idea :p

looks pretty easy.. i just don't want to blow the engine.

its a 2004 dodge ram 1500.

Well I've never owned a truck only cars on the complete opposite spectrum... My cars in order from first to previous vehicle: 95' Eclipse(hatch), 93' Integra(hatch), 03' WRX, and my current 99' civic(hatch...see a pattern?) Anyways I've put on one full c/a intake and two short rams. Its pretty straight forward just take off the old one and put on the new one...make sure your clamps are on pretty damn tight I've had my filter fall off before...so DONT be afraid to crack it by putting the clamps around the rubber hosing too tight but DONT put it on too tight either...just tank on it a little after hooking it all up if it doesnt move your golden

Make sure you mass air flow is in the right place and hooked up and make sure there no leaks other than that just as wisco said. It's ez

as long as you dont got any leaks and the mass air is hooked up correctly the mass air will adjust what it needs to, no way your gunna pop the motor. I put a k&n filter with new rails injectors and chip ( was a package kit K&n made in the past) for my dakota 5.9 rt, no problem.

Don't drop anything down the inlet tube and don't assume it is a lady. :icon_wink:

Don't call it a cold air intake. There is nothing cold about engine bay air. The stock setup [on any newer vehicle] is the closest thing to a cold air intake.

Look up mighty car mods on YouTube they have a whole show on how they don't really do anything for gaining hp

Blanket statements such as this are always false. Some cars gain alot of power from aftermarket intakes. 03-04 cobra's even gained boost pressure from an intake. I just don't like people calling them cold air intakes when most of the aftermarket system out there don't pull the air from an outside source.

+1

If the new intake sits where your old airbox was, Its not a cold air intake. Its just an intake.

what kind of kit? AirAid, K&N, Volant, aFe, S&B(best out there)?
