Default Changing insurance

Well, I went in to State Farm today and was offered $55 per month for bike coverage and $155 for both my car and my fiance's. I currently pay a lot more than that with Progressive for a lot less coverage and a lot higher deductibles. When my tax return comes in, I'm dropping Progressive (I have to pay $50 to cancel my policy) and I will be paying $50 less per month than I am currently. That is all.

How long have you been with PR--there may be hidden benefits to staying, like when my woman totalled her Jetta [:@] they didn't raise my rate because I've been a customer for four years or more (six, actually). Plus you could argue your case...ask for a review, both of the premium and your credit as it affects the total.

You're saving how much? $600 dollars a year? That is a chunk of change--or a new Spidi leather jacket...hmmm

I think you should try to make a deal with them if you haven't already. You seem pretty set about it though, did they not even try to lower your rate?

that's nuts... when I cancelled my progressive policy in January they cut me a check for $400 ... then I opened a new policy within the month and they gave me a loyal customer discount which ended up being less than I paid on my old bike for my new bike

I just got a quote to add the bike to my progressive acct, have car on there now, and it was over $2k. I'm 29 and have only had 3 tickets in 13 years, one in Oct, and no accidents. State Farm came in at $263 for better coverage and only $20 more on the car if I add renters insurance.

Don't get me wrong, I like Progressive. They took REALLY good care of me, but they are pricier than SF esp on bike stuff. I've been a customer of theirs for approx 3 years. My deductibles are dropping, my coverage is increasing, and I'm paying less every month. Can't really beat it.
