CBR 600F Vs R6?

Which is faster?

My friend is determined to convince me that his R6 is much faster than my 600F, which I don't. He passed his test a week ago so he is a new rider and I have my test on the 19th of this month, so I can't give him a race yet:P

So....

The weight of him and his bike is about 600 Lbs
The weight of my and my bike is about 500 Lbs

His bike is a carb'ed 2001 Yamaha R6
My bike is a fuel injected 2006 CBR 600F

He has a Beowolf stainless end can
I have a Two Brothers carbon end can

His bike is supposedly 120bhp brand new
My bike is supposedly 109bhp brand new

I've tried to give you all the info that I can which can help you decide. I really want to know because he is convinced my bike is much much slower than his and I really don't think it is.

So what do you guys say?

I think riders who have just gotten their licenses shouldnt be woried about who's bike is faster, and who would win in a race...but also, a carb'd bike wouldnt have the throttle resposnse a fuel inj. bike does...i personally would think the f.i. bike would pull in the beginning but the r6 would come on at the top end.

this too^^^ cbr's gunna hand out a whoopin, depending on how you start from a dig or from a roll, from a dig its all about the rider from a roll not as much just have to get your shifts right, he should be sniffin your exhaust by the time you have to shift to the next gear if you get a good jump. my first bike was a 2000 cbr 600 F4 and my friend had a 2006 R6 stock, mine was jetted full exhaust with yoshi can, and i tooth down in the front sprocket and i would hang with him thru the low end and mid range all day would pull a little if i got the better jump. Honda has way more mid-range pull than most other bikes thats what they are known a lot for so you shouldnt have an issue.

a lot goes in to a 'who's bike is faster' pissing match, most of it has to do with the rider, if your better at controller your bike you shuld have no problem whippin him in any kind of twisties, if your a better clutch/shifter you should have a pure advantage.

So......him and his bike weigh 600lbs??

You and your bike weigh 500lbs??

Your bike weighs (wet) say 400-410 maybe? Are you really that light?

im gonna take the yama on this one, i always thought they were faster in a straight line.

Its all rider tho, start from a dig.... for example i have pulled till end of second on my 96 f3 against an 05 600rr...

This race would be on a closed course right?

I have rode both bikes. If that R6 isn't sync'd and well maintained he is screwed. That carb'd bike only makes 105 hp if I remember right and heavier than our F4i if my memory serves correct. I didn't like the feel of the R6 when I rode it vs the f4i. Granted I have a spilt seat.

Agreed.

I just had to watch 2 dudes on an R6 and a CBR600 with their girlfriends on the back fly by me on the highway going 100+ with no gear on (just a helmet) and heavy traffic. I'm already tired of squids and it's april

But really, it's all about the rider. And if you're "racing" on a straightaway or highway or a windy, twisty road.
