WTF?

Is this a new game, "fix the mystery car"?

Alright, depending on what he says the car is,my blind guesses are as follows with no real reasoning other than a misfire with noengine light.

pre 1990- Bad ignition rotor/cap

1990-2000- Bad o2 sensor

post 2000 - Bad plug wire

BUT, if it's a turbo anything, my guess changes to boost leak somewhere.

How many miles? Still a pretty long laundry list that it could be, it should have codes in it running that badly, perhaps the light is burnt out or removed, wouldnt be the first time. Start by taking it somewhere and have is scanned for codes, then have it checked for misfires. Check fuel pressure also, if there are no codes, and no misfires, i would probably check the iac valve first then look for vacuum problems or egr issues.

Spraying an engine down with water can lead to ignition problems. Seen it before where I used to work.

it could be the timing also. id becareful with that. you can bend a valve and be in a world of trouble.

Brandon the 3.3 and 3.8 liters are chain driven, not likely to be a timing issue.

Let us know what it turns out to be, always curious.

Spark wires are misplaced.- That's my vote. - This really should be a poll...
EGR is second guess.

There SHOULD be a light though - my '97 threw a "Misfire" light within a minute of me disconnecting an injector while it was idling.

Occasionally I can be found on the http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Chryslers_MiniVans/group - lots of smart guys there...
