there are different kinds, i don't know if your looking for an aggressive fish(and thats why you chose piranha) or no...but i've had two, and boy did they bring hell to my fish tank, the only thing they couldn't kill were my algae eaters and thats because they were HUGE lol.

Just as ugly as a piranha and a little more aggressive, Oscars won't chew your limbs if you stick them in the tank though

Mostly southern states like florida is where piranhas are illegal because they can live in the wild over winter and such. I used to have a carnivore tank with an indian knife (clown) fish, oscars and whatnot. The only downside to piranha is that you need a small school to get the effect of what you are looking for, one or two fish is kinda lame.

Oscars are awesome, get two, they will bond with you and each other, they will act like dogs when they see you, they are beautiful when they are small, get a little ugly when bigger.

But for overall impact, an indian knife fish is awesome, they strike with violence and slam into the side of the tank. Women love them because of the way they move. Mine was in a 55 gal tank and only got to about 16 inches and lived for several years. Easy fish to take care of, get a big pleco and an oscar or two and you will be fine.
