Broke a 21 year streak.
Ross Street.
The helmet is retired. It did its job. Just like a lot of bands, its a one hit wonder. Now it will go on the wall as a monument to my momentary lapse in judgement.

I am so glad to hear you are alright ... 21 years is a long while, my own record was 17 years, I look to the positive of these types of crashes ... sometimes, it takes these minor spills to pull us up like a wake up call, when we have ridden for years we can definitely get somewhat complacent, thinking it only happens to those other mad or less careful bikers than ourselves ... these more minor spills make us think, we then take more care and quite possibly they save us from the big one!! So, I am sorry about your bike, I know how it feels and it's great you were not hurt but I think this maybe a positive for us older never crashed riders :-)
Be safe :-)

I want to clear this up...My 21 year streak was since my last crash. I have been down before.
The last crash was by Dead Mans Flats in the spring of 1988...also on a Honda. In that instance my gear also saved me from any significant injury. I have always been an advocate for proper riding gear. Severe road conditions and passenger input at the wrong time put me down that time.

Glad you're ok, thrash. Looks like you got a cheap lesson that will probably help you avoid worse in the future. Good to hear you walked away almost unscathed and the bike only took minor damage!
