Default Bmw M3 vs. 07 cbr1000rr

i was on my way back home from the ama races at road america earlier today, and me and 2 other buddies where just cruisin down the freeway at like 70-75mph, and we come up on a blue M3, so i slow down and my buddies keep going, hes givin me the lets race signal, so i'm just kinda laughin like haha ok, kinda weary about doing that stuff on roads, but we happened to be on a 4 mile strait section and there was NO traffic suprisingly. so i'm in second gear at 70 mph and just roll on it thru the gears. next thing i know i'm in 6th gear at 155mph and there he is, right almost side by side with me, i could see him in my mirror. i knew i had more left easily, but i just kinda held it at that speed to see if he was pullin on me still. did not seem like it, and that was that, i gave him the thumbs up and road off on a 2nd gear wheelie lol. squidy i know, but ya only live once, and com'n! i just came from the race track lol

I'm not too familiar with m3's but i'm assuming this one was not stock.
what kinda speeds do the m3's top out at?
thats the fastest i have been on any road with my bike, plan to keep it that way.
What does a stock cbr1000rr top out at out of curiosity? indicated/vs actual?

Theres the story.

Depends on which model of M3 it was: e36, e46, or e92? All are electronically limited to 155mph (easily removed with software upgrades). The e36 had 240 hp, e46 had 333, and the e92 has 414. Check pics online to match it up, great cars!

Straight line speed comparisons are worth about as much as the paper your ticket is written on.

Starting from a roll it's easy to keep up with you. From a dead stop, You'd probably smoke him if you can keep the front down.

If he got into the right gear, E46 M3s have a strong top end. I think it's pretty possible he could have hung with you well with some good mods.

With the limiter removed, E46 M3s have a lot of room left. They can top out in the 180 range, limited by aerodynamic drag.

+1 to SpiritRR, but some good ole fashioned drag races are still fun sometimes. Totally pointless, but I used to enjoy racing my friend's miserable 01 Mustang GT. Limited to 130, and my cars have been limited at 155. It was enjoyable to watch the headlights slowly drop back as I gained speed, then all the sudden at 130 to watch them fall way back so quickly.

If you ever come across a M3 and the BMW bage is red instead of the normal blue. Your about to be smoked, cause that baby is supercharged.

thegreenbandit: that isn't true. Every //M car comes from the factory with the same badge, and NO //M car has forced induction.
