Default Black Friday?

Okay, my wife was sitting next to me last night telling me all the places we were going to go on Black Friday. I then told her that "we" arent going anywhere and "me" is staying home.

Just wondering how many others brave the crowds and mob mentallity of soccer moms everywhere.

I know that you can save money, but i personnally dont do well with large crowds or lines.

They won't let me properly prepare for B-Friday mobs (fully automatic weapons and a backpack full of mags).

B'sides, they did a really interesting look at the Black Friday ads. Said how VERY few people will get the super discounted 'door buster'. Because if you read the fine print, it usually states the store usually receives only a few of those items (like 3-5). It's a Bait & Switch scam so they get your butt in the store to sell you what they really want

God, no. I'm sleeping in. I worked retail far too many years and I know I can find just as good deals elsewhere the rest of the year.

From now until January 1st I stay out of stores, honestly. Just can't deal with the crowds and the hassle.

Having specialised in being an ******* since puberty, I'm just curious to know what 'black Friday' is. Are the Americans inventing a new one day festival or is this a global thing that's somehow passed me by?

It's a day created by the US retail industry to take advantage timing to boost Xmas sales. Many US workers have the day after Thanksgiving off as well as the holiday. So the retail industry has hyped that day as the 'official' beginning of Christmas shopping. Many stores open extremely early that day (some as early as midnight), offering 'door buster' deals to anyone insane enough to form a line for their opening. Door busters are heavily discounted prices on limited availibility items, creating a pressure on the buyer to be there before they run out. Things like $199 laptops and $600 52" HD tvs.

It has gotten bad enough that several people have gotten injured, including a death last year as a man was trampled, in the rush as the doors open to get to those items. As well as fistfights inside stores over items. So the automatic weapons & ammo was barely a joke... To properly defend yourself, lethal force may actually come in handy

Yep a couple more like that and I think something will happen were they don't do it anymore. Based on safety

ya its pretty sad. Not sure i would agree with a headstone saying "Almost had the Tickle-Me-Elmo"

As much as i agree something should be done about it, what is there to do? Cant regulate when a store opens and at what prices they advertise merchandise, even if it is a complete load of BS.

Maybe if more of us did some shopping with Kuro's and my attitude. Full Tactical Gear, Kuro has close prox with the full autos and ill take the high ground with the sniper rifle.... (just kidding guys dont get all pissy on me about crazy rednecks with guns)

In any case whatever you do be safe, and cherish the time with your family. that is the most important thing.
