if you're "riding" in a storm you should be insulated from ground too. unless we switched to some new sort of tire that i havent been told about. relevance?

Yes if you do some research on this a lot of people think cars and bikes are safe because they are insulated from the ground by their tyres .. but this is not the case ..both can be struck and on the bike you are the highest point whereas the car has a steel structure to dissipate the charge around it ..

Ah ha!! ..I found it ..the Top Gear car lightning experiment ..Richard Hammond gets zapped in a car with 800,000 Volts!!
He makes a good point about if electricity can make it from the sky to the car then it can easily make it from the car to the ground too .. its not the tyres that save you its the cage ...
Its a really interesting watch :-) ..I lik.e Richard Hammond ..he is funny!!

People tell me I have an unnatural fear of lightning...I say, what the **** is natural about instantaneous death or dismemberment from something that can travel in any direction at the speed of light and is louder than all the screams of everyone ever murdered put together...yeah, nothing. That's what I thought. Lightning can go to hell and it can die.
