Bike Falls If Parked on Pavement in Summer???
Has anyone heard something like this before? : If a you park your bike on pavement, and if the weather is really hot in summer and your bike falls on the ground??? There was this guy at this bar and he told that story. I didn't take it serious but now I am wondering... I didn't have any experience like that.

It was over 100° this summer in North Georgia and I have seen several deep sunk kickstand's in the blacktop to the point where it looked like the bike was going to tip over. I would say it was very well possible and I have heard this same story over and over from several reliable sources

It really depends on wot sort of surface you mean, never park your bike on grass anytime, concrete is ok, dirt & gravel is a long shot, but bitumen forget it, goes really soft in the heat. Wot is really off, is say you parked your bike in a brand new undercover car park, yep, brand new bitumen. Worked some overtime & came out to a bike that not only had sunk into this crap (did not fall over though) But temp had dropped enough to solidify around the side stand!
Wot really freaks me though, is when you park, chuck the side stand down & you lean it over only to realise that left drop is a l-o-t deeper than you 1st thought.

I just keep a thick plastic disk in my tank bag, crushed soda can words or a small square of plywood works too. I only worry about it if the paving is new and if I am going to be in the store for a long time. It isn't as bad for sportbikes because they are so light, but some of these cruisers weigh a ton.

yea i have a puck in my trunk most the time here in FL but sometimes i just use whatever i can get ahold of. soda cans work great and sodo chunks of wood, but only if it is thin enough to let ur bike lean the right way. no 2x4's lol
