big Grin day bike passed MOT 1st day out!
Hi All, big grin day for me my 1989 600fk passed its mot test. The tester could have failed the bike for a sticking throttle and once shown the problem I agreed that would have been correct I hadn't realized it was sticking however the engineer at A & M motorcycles Hull, shout out, stripped my throttle and found years of crud holding the cables up, cleaned it out with cleaning fluid then silicone lubed it put it back together then tested the bike. It was nice to go somewhere where there was a will to pass my bike as opposed to looking for ways to fail it and they definitely went over and above!
I took the bike home taxed it then went out for a 50 mile run locally and it was just as I remembered a well balanced planted machine on cornering, smooth and quick on acceleration in fact I have to learn how to keep the bike under the legal speed limit as erm it was difficult. I got home with a big grin on my face but at 56 yrs of age my groin cramped up a couple of times having to remain doubled up to ride the steed but no amount of my missus saying told you so will stop me enduring a bit of discomfort for the absolute thrill of riding this machine.
I did find that the 2nd gear growled a bit when selected but to be fair your not in it very long and there was a slight timing chain rattle at idle something I'm aware these suffered with so manual tensioner to fit next but they will be winter jobs, for now I just wanna ride, stay safe all see ya out n about, AL.
