Default ATM fees

Has anyone else noticed that almost everyone is charging ATM fees. It started off one gas station, Arco am/pm was charging .45 for using a card now almost all fast food places are charging and mom & pop shops. Some are up to .75 cents for transaction fees.

I use my card alot and this starts adding up, thinking cash might be a better way to go. Not sure if you guys are seeing it in your areas?

Yeah its really starting to **** me off. Not sure why this trend is starting. I mean everyone (almost everyone) uses their debit cards these days. I was a cash only guy for years, then forced myself to stop carrying cash with me everywhere because of the ATM withdrawl fee's. Now there is transaction fees WTF???

Most credit unions here dont have any ATM withdrawl fee's. But now fast food joints, mini marts and others are starting this transaction fee. No matter what the amount is.

Yep! Sucks! Ive pretty much turned into a cash guy because of this crap. But then my bank charges me an excessive use charge if I go to my banks ATM too much. Any way to make more money!

Any time a company accepts plastic, THEY are charged a percentage of the sale from the credit card company (visa, mastercard, etc) every time a plastic is swiped. They are trying to make some of the money back.

Credit card companies dont just make money from interest.

Credit. But what about debit?

Same thing. If you use your debit card as a credit card (hince the visa, mastercard, etc symbol on them), the company is still charged for it.

I always use it as a credit charge cuase either my pin never works or I forgot it. Supposally doing it debit will make the transaction show up faster in your bank statement but I'm not sure.
