[align=left]so ive been thinking about getting a bicycle because i dont want to turn into a porker, plus i live less than 4 miles from work, so i figure i could do the ride to work thing. ive never had a road bike before, just mountain bikes, and a bmx when i was younger, any suggestions on a good bike, maybe $700 max?

I have a Trek the man has a Mongoose....good brands....a few hundred should do...

 

Yeah, get a mt bike! It will be more of a work out and you will be able to take it off-road if the chance ever presents itself. Plus you can get asmoother ride with a suspension. Road bikes are kinda...well, they areroad bikes!

 

the only problem with mountain bikes is... anything in southeastern louisiana that isnt road, is swamp. all of my riding would be on the road pretty much

 

schwinn, trek, cannondale, all good brands. Road bikes can get realllllly expensive though. I'd stick with something under 500, if all you need is to ride it to work.

 

I had no idea! I live in Colorado, a mountian bike is a must! Getting a road bike would be understandable.
