Default Am I too fat/heavy for a CBR600?

I plan on getting a bike next year. I have some dirt bike and atv experience, have never driven a streetbike. I was looking at the 600RR. My question is, at 6'2 235lbs, am I too fat for this bike? Also my gf would be on the back, and she weighs around 120 lbs. Do I need to lose weight and/or move up to a bigger bike? The lowest I have ever weighed as an adult was 210 ( and would not want to weigh less than that ). Thanks for the help.

bikes are not determined by your weight but more so by your riding experience. Being the size you are and that you have some riding exp although it was on dirt, I will spare you my start out on a 250 speech. Tho it still would be a bad idea but at 235lbs a 250 would seem like a toy under you and def would 2up. I say start on a 600, I know several guys you weight that ride em, they're in rather good shape, not flab etc, just solid. I weigh 190 n do fine on a 600 even when 2up. So I say go with the 600 for a few years, log tons of miles, then move up to a 1k if you feel you need more power. GL n welcome to the addiction!!!

If we're talking horsepower, the 600RR can more easily handle you and passenger. Probably two passengers...lol. I know plenty of people over 6'2" who find the ergonomics of a 600 suit them well but definitely take one for a test ride if you can and see for yourself. A bigger bike isn't necessarily going to fit you any better.

The only thing to watch is the max load rating of your tires. I'm pretty sure going a few pounds over won't hurt anything, but you don't want to risk overloading them too badly.

Oh, and don't call yourself fat. You're probably just "big-boned"...

at the time i bought my 600 F2 , i weighed in at 230 and im 6'2", so were in the same xl frame, my bike performed exelent, even with my wife on the back. dont be fooled by all the liter bike talk, i road a 600 rr not to long ago , and yup it will fly, Playful dog is right on the money , you should be fine with a 600, and dont for a second think your on a small bike thats safe. I would still start out EEEEAZY....peace

you can send your girlfriend to me and then you wont have to worry about the weight.

in all seriousness though most user manuals have a max weight limit on the bike combined around 315 or so. dont want the top heavy weight of two riders to = more then the 400lb bike.

I do fine with my F2 I'm 220 ish and I take the G/F or the oldest kids out and their all bigger then 120. IMHO a 1k is a wast unless you take it to the track.

I completely disagree with everyone. 350lbs + on a 600 is laughable. As I have said on here before everyone that spent hard earned $$$ on a 600, 6 months later wishes they would have bought a 1000. You and your girl on a 1000 will be effortless. Also the whole starting on a 250 thing is a joke. Plenty of peoples first bikes were 1000's and there is a pretty good chance that most of them are still alive. Keep your wrist out of the throttle and you'll be fine. 1 last thing why in the world would you buy an 08 600 when you can get a new 08 1000 for the same price or cheaper??? Marinate on that for a bit before you go and waste your money.

Not me :-)

I always bought 600s and never regretted buying them ... there is also a world of difference between the power delivery of an early 600 and a new 600RR, I only ride solo though and my 600RR blows my mind the same as it did 6 months ago, it's just *that* responsive ... I will never tire of it's power, more than enough for me :-)

Check this post out to see how responsive it is...

you must hang with some real dumbasses. I dont know a soul that has bought a 600 that has regretted it and wanted a 1k instead, And I know and converse with 100's of riders daily. The only ppl I know who think like that cant ride for shyt and have the mentality that if you dont have a liter you dont have a real bike. And like I said those fools cant ride for shyt.

And check your stats, only fools start out on 1ks. No not all of them are dead, but most wish they used some common sense and started smaller. Its not about money, its about learning to ride and being a good rider, not boost your phuqing ego n bragging rights.

And a 600 can ride 2up just fine. I willing to beat my 10yo 600 2up will leave you n your 1k in the dust here in the mtns.

So marinate on that!!!
