RE: The Adventures of Lrn2Go, SchiraF4I, and Choppa!
Another random update!
04/24-25/08
~ Finally, the road to repair on SchiraF4I's bike begins! We install a new stator cover, lever, glue some plastics back together, etc.
~ Now it's time to get creative! When we tried to bend the shifter back out, it broke. With no shifter in stock in the OKC area, and welding having been turned down, it was time to brainstorm of ways to get the F4I on the road to get to the local hangout that evening.
~ Attempt #1. Liquid Steel and Epoxy!
~ Failed! (SchiraF4I was impatient, Epoxy never dried before the test. We're not sure if it would have held or not, given the 24 hour set time it needed.)
~ Round 2! Drill a small hole in what's left, use a screw as a makeshift-shifter!
~ That worked for about 8 or 9 shifts... then the screw broke off. Time for a bigger hole and larger screw!
~ This WOULD have worked (was using a large-diameter bolt, hard steel)... but I didn't like the angle that the bolt was coming out at (from where the shifter nub had been previously bent) so I went to hammering on it. Since it wasn't moving easily, I got mean with it, and broke the shifter lever more... it was no longer usable.
04/26/08
~ I get ONE more idea... who needs a shifter lever?! We move the shifter arm, remove the links, leave the connected "ball", and viola! (Do we win any Ghetto Rigged awards? )
~ SchiraF4I hadn't been riding for more than 5 minutes and we all got pulled over by a short, hot-headed cop. It was a totally bogus deal where he wanted to chase some street racers, and we didn't cut off 2 lanes of traffic to move right fast enough. We took the heat, and they pinned SchiraF4I for his lights. $144 ticket... but I got a good chuckle out of when Schira asked if he could get a "warning". So did the cop. The evening was still a nice one once we had that out of the way.
~ And, since I know you're thinking it, SchiraF4I is SUPPOSED to be getting a new lever on the way, so everything should be back in proper working order soon.

RE: The Adventures of Lrn2Go, SchiraF4I, and Choppa!
Man, I don't know what it is lately... but I've been lazy when it comes to the forum! Anyways... here's some more updates!
04/28/08
~ Weather is a bit cool and grey. Choppa gets a ride going with some of his other local pals and us to make a back-road (with actual twisties! I know, crazy talk!) run to Stillwater to grab a bite at Eskimo Joe's.
~ There were TONS of bugs on the ride. You can see plenty of them on the yamaha here.
~ And finally, SchiraF4I and Choppa had a special "moment".

RE: The Adventures of Lrn2Go, SchiraF4I, and Choppa!
05/03/08
~ I get an early call and bam! Off to the local House of Kawasaki for free BBQ, free Monster energy drinks, and a motorcycle stunt show. Saw my first local - actually owned Ducatti there.
~ And a "Rhino Lined" bike.
~ I'm not expecting much at first, but left fairly impressed! Choppa couldn't make it, but SchiraF4I and Special Guest were there (once she could drag Schira out of bed) The stunt show involved 2 profesional stunters from TeamStunters.com, Eric Hoenshell and Big Scott.
~ Big Scott roasted the tire down till it exploded to end the first show early that morning. Split the thing in two! (Here's the VIDEO)
~ A few more stunt shots.
~ I thought SchiraF4I should go get me something from next door at the gas station... but he wouldn't do it for some reason...
