I've ridden both and always come back to the 600...
There's only a handful of guys who can ride these bikes to their limit.....lets be honest, if you can do that you should be racing in the AMA or MotoGPfull time.
The 600 (especially a heavilymodified 600RR)has more power and more cornering and more top speed and more bike than most of us can ride...if you say that you can ring it out to its maximum...please read thesentence above again.
The 600 will make you a better a rider in my opinion...you will ride it harder and squeeze more performance out of it based on your ability..not backed off and trying to keep it under control like the liter bikes. You will be better at all things motorcycle on a modern 600RR...its just as fast as the liter bikes of a few years back and to me a lot more fun. We can all pin it and go 180...its all the other stuff where it counts in the end

everytime I see this discussion its pretty much an undecided never ending battle. I always say match a bike to your riding habits/abilities. Looking for a weekend rider? a daily commuter? track bike, etc etc. No one is ever going to tell you what you truly want to hear, and if they do someone else is going to contradict it.

I have an F2 and I had the chance to ride an 08 600RR. The difference in power was amazing, I knew what to suspect from doing research because I am also looking to upgrade, however IMO if you get an 07 or 08 600 you won't have to worry about power issues. the bike was extremely comfortable as well but I am shorter than you I am only 5'-11". I agree with a few guys on here your not going to put the bike to it's limit unless you are Josh Hayes or Jake Zemeke, also put yourself in as many seats as you can get the feel for the bike. I am not going to spend 10K on a bike that makes my back hurt my legs cramp and my arms numb, because then I will never ride it and then it was money thrown down the sh1tter.
I am not telling you what to get I am just providing my 2cents becasue we have sort of similar bikes

If you're feeling cramped on an F3, I'm not sure any current sportbike, whether a 600 or liter bike, is going to work out. But you should sit on and preferably test ride a few.
Like was mentioned, a sport tourer like a Triumph ST or Honda VFR is one good possibility. I've ridden a 929 and it seemednice androomy, but that was only a short ride around the neighborhood.
Of course there's always a Hayabusa, if you can ignore the Suzuki haters.
