Pretty sweet eye candy there, but doesn't all those effects take away from the overall performance of the machine? Either way though, it's visually amazing.

It's linux.. Windows probably takes more away from the performance of the machine :P I'd say that his machine performs pretty well considering the high framerate that it's doing this at. The computer is just rendering a cube afterall.

I was running ubuntu on a separate partition on my primart hdd...but im just going to get another hdd and put it on there. Does anyone know if i can still run it without having that damned grub bootloader?

Your other option is to use LILO, what is wrong with using Grub?

eh..i dont like how it just replaces the windows bootloader..I want to load windows by default, but be able to press a hotkey on boot and load the bootloader so i can load ubuntu if i wanted.

I see, you are trying to dual boot. The traditional way to dual boot is to have grub control which operating system you want to boot.
