2007 CBR 600 WEIGHT.
 
so is this like 16 pounds it lost a big deal??? i just weighed the parts i took of and its almost 5 pounds.

TAIL W/ turn signals. 2.7 pounds
turn signals .7 pounds
pegs 1.4 pounds

and also how much do race bikes way from a stock cbr.

ps. sorry i cant spell weigh and the other forms of it.

You will probably get a lot of answers on this one, I would think.

For guys that are into racing, yeah, 16 lbs is a lot. If you have two bikes that are exactly the same in every way and two riders that are exactly the same in skills (not very likely) and they race, then they should tie. Now if one guy takes 16lbs off his bike, then he should now win the race. His power to weight ratio is better.

Would I buy a bike because one is 16lbs lighter than another one? No, I wouldn't, but I'm not a racer.

The better the power to weight ratio, the faster the bike is going to be. There's more to it such as handling and so forth, but power to weight ratio is what some guys look at. That's why bikes will beat cars (generally speaking), especially from a standing start. Bikes may not have as much HP as the car, but they also weigh a lot less than 2,000lbs ;)

Generally speaking, for every 100lbs. a car loses in weight, it will gain 0.10 seconds in the quarter mile. So,Oldy was dead on about power to weight ratio. So for a bike to lose 16 lbs. is a big deal since it weighs a lot less than a car.

If you wanted to do the math, say a car weighs 2,000 lbs. The driver takes off some parts to race, and shaves off 100lbs. That's 5% of the car's weight. Now, a bike weighs 400lbs. The rider takes off some parts and shaves off 20lbs. Note that 20lbs is 5% of 400lbs. Theoretically, the biker should get the same performance gain from losing 20lbs that the car got from losing 100lbs.

Im not sure but I thought I remembered something about every 100# off a car gave it one more horsepower. so theoretically 20# off a 400# bike should give it a pony as well.

Removing weight can never give anything more horsepower. It may FEEL that way because the acceleration is faster. Hence -100# = -.10sec/1/4 mile

That's why I am so glad I didn't get a tool kit with my CBR. I'm lighter, faster, and I pity the fool that wants to race me! :D Now if I would do a few sit ups and a couple of bench presses, I would be likeMariah...the wind that carries warriors souls across the vastness of time. (What the hell am I talking about?!?!)

Replacing stocks rims with Marchesini(Italia) will gets ya 24 lbs lighter.The stocks rims are heavy lugs but the Marchesini's willl run ya around 1600 and up...

Another serious upside to decreasing the weight in your rims is decreasingsomething called rotional mass. If you decrease the weight in your wheels and tires the engine doesn't have to work as hard to spin the chain, hence better performance. You can get an example of this in drag racing in cars. Those rice burning civics with 20 inch wheels run a signicantly slower quarter mile than a the same civic with 15 inch wheels for this reason. This is a similar reason why we decrease the weight in our flywheels, driveshafts, or anything that spins.
