Default Getting tires mounted in Long Island

Can anyone recommend a shop or place on Long island (Nassu County preferably) to have a front tire mounted? I am planning on bringing them the tire, but I know how some places feel about bringing the tire to them... the last place I used for my Ninja was okay, but between the tire and mounting/balancing it was nearly $200 (and that was for a 16 skinny front tire). I also had to leave the bike there for a few days..

I'd love to find a place that was affordable, careful, and a place where I could have it done in one day.. maybe even wait for it.

Thanks,
Adam

How much space you got availible? If you have a garage, I'd suggest investing in tire changing eq from Harbor Freight.

If I had a garage, I would. They wanted $120 for both tires if I brought them the rims & tires (aka $12 / min using a tire changing machine).

Well not me personally but I did go there with a friend of mine and he had his rear tires mounted by them. He couldn't get the bead to sit right in the tire so we had to bring it there. Other than that, they haven't done any other work. They seem like good people though. If I ever had problems that I couldn't deal with, I wouldn't hesitate to bring it there and ask for help.

Thanks bro.. I will check them out then. Do you mind telling me how much they charged? I assume the wheel was off the bike in your friend's case.

Good to see another LIer here... maybe we can get some locals together for some rides.

I forget how much it was to be honest. I will try to find out for you though.

I'm actually in Queens but in LI all the time. We should link up sometime this spring/summer.

I just take mine to the flat fix guy in my neighborhood, and never had a problem. As long as you line up the red dot with the valve stem, chances are it won't even balancing. It costs me $10.

For other service I can recommend NY Motorcycle in Queens Village.

A lot of places won't touch motorcycle tires for one reason or another. I guess you got lucky with the flat fix guy. If I had a flat fix guy around me I would go to them too. I'm not far from Brooklyn, you mind putting up his info. I always like to know I have more options out there if I ever needed it.

As for that place NY motorcycle in Queens Village, they are a rip off. I tried to do business with them since they were so close to me but their prices are rediculous.

The tire place I go to is on Coney Island Avenue near Church Avenue, right next to Prospect Cycles.

I've only dealt with NY Motorcycle's service people, and didn't have any problems and their labor rates seemed reasonable. I've never bought parts from them. Sorry you had a bad experience there.
