I think this was DTD ...in a thread not long back and the consensus was that the CBR stands for the model ID..
Simple version..
" CB " ....Honda's base model ( commonly called City Bike ) .... the " R " was a tossup between Racing or Race ready and a few other names that are all still a point of discussion to this day ...
I go with the fact that Honda whack an "R" in to describe models that are race ready and use it on all its higher performance models , including their XR trail and motocross range ...
So to answer your question ...this point is still after a million years not clear ...even from Honda it self mate ...

There are many bull **** versions of the CBR translation ...
You have to ignore most mate ...
the " CB " is explained fully by Honda model ID only ...

And no "RR" doesn't stand for rice rocket, it stands for Race Replica.
As for the R on the end of CBR I would say it stands for Race. As in Commuting Bike Racer?
