I was just curious what you guys think my insurance will consider this. Just wanted to hear your guys input. Thanks! |
I think they will consider it a total loss.

Where are you from and do you have salvage titles?
Here in NYS if the damages exceed 75% of the total vehicle value they will consider it totaled. Last year a lady pulled out in front of my friend and he tucked is front wheel into her. The insurance co. gave him an offer of $600 for damages or total it for $800. He took the $800 because he's cheap. The insurance co. will take ownership of the vehicle once they total it or give you the option to buy it back at some price. My friend gave me a 1979 CX500 and the insurance co. didn't want to put time and money towing it so they gave it to him. He didn't want to fix it so he gave it to me. The insurance co. reported it to the state as totaled and the title got frozen. I have fixed the bike but have been working for 2 months trying to get a title for registration. So far I have spent several days and many hours and way more than the $200 difference in insurance money trying to get this bike registered. When I do get a title, it may be branded 'salvage' as it has to go through the Theft, Flood, Salvage department of NYS DOT. The bottom line is, do you want to fix it or take a greater amount of money and give it to the insurance co.? It is up the insurance adjuster to figure if the damages are more than the repair cost and if so may total it. Personally I wouldn't total any vehicle unless it was a total loss and I didn't want it anymore. That bike looks fixable. Welcome to the forum. |
