Whats up guys im kind of a noob to street bikes, But have a little experiance in dirtbikes. I raced motocross for many years and still ride dirtbikes now and then, i have a crf250r. But im here for my other bike, 95 cbr900rr. Im also a mechanic and love to build and tinker with anything i have so nothing ever stays completely stock for long haha, I got this bike about a year ago in a trade it just needed a clutch to drive but the plastic was beat to **** and wrapped in fur...yea fur! put the clutch in and the bike got put behind some of my other projects and im finnaly getting back into it now. just started working on swapping the tail for an k4/k5 gsxr 700 tail. and im in the process of repairing the rest of the fairing. it also has a stumble at higher rpms i noticed after riding it one time last year but that will wait to get sorted out until spring. anyways heres some pics!

when i got it:

Welcome to the CBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR Forum ASR! :D

Did it purr before you stripped off its pelt?

Good to see you're restoring the 900's dignity!

Cheers, SB

Hi, welcome to the forums. That's a nice bike, the contrast between the frame and the tank looks sweet.

I hear you say you're a mechanic, just curious what do you use for old rags when cleaning the chain? I've almost used all my old t-shirts so I'm looking for a cheap alternative.

Welcome to the forum.
What year is that Chevelle and what powerplant do you have in it?

My first vehicle was an 88 with the KA24 - I wish I had that truck back some days for a VQ35 swap. V8 swap wasn't ever on my radar back then though, lol

Welcome to the forum.

Not the first one we've seen with fur on it. Whats up with that? Must be a stunter thing...
Since it was stunted, make sure to check the forks closely for being bent/damaged, as well as everything else. I'm sure it's been on it's side more than a few times.

Why? That's a fairly wide engine, wider than even the VG30E that was offered in the V6 versions. They are a total PITA to work on as there is very little room with the V6. Though the VG30 is a great engine otherwise.
I would do either a KA24DE swap (from an S13 or S14 240sx) then turbo it, or do an SR20DET swap. You could also do a CA18DET swap; it's a little 1.8 I4 but it has an iron block, can rev north of 9K rpm and can hold quite a bit more power than it's 175 hp stock rating. Mate that with a 4:11 rear diff.

Friend of mine does VQ35 swaps on B15 Sentra Spec-V's, I'm just familiar with that motor a bit more, and there's a couple longblocks I can get my hands on pretty easily.

doesn't matter - right now I've got a 90 model ranger that is begging me for a 302/T5 swap. I can't bring home any more projects, according to the wife.

welcome to cbrf! make sure to throw a build thread up in the fighter section for your bike. it's a great improvement over the furball! i look forward to seeing how it turns out
