Default Repsol - too good to be true?

Hey everyone..I'm on an 03 f4i now and love it but have been thinking about trading up..I've come across a guy who is selling Repsol for what seems to be a rediculously low price..he is looking at getting about $8,000 and it only has 1,300 miles. He claims that he bought it in June and now needs to sell due to a baby on the way (not uncommon story). I've yet to meet him and see the bike..will probably do so in the next day or so. Any thoughts? It seems as though he will really get creamed on the price, particularly given that he claims he had to get it through a Fla. dealership because there were none in NE..now he is dumping it at a $4,000 or so loss?? I'm not so sure I buy it. I appreciate any thoughts..thanks! Scott

Check if it has been dropped. That is too good of a price.

The pic he sent is of a clean bike..claims it is mint. I've heard stories of bikes being taken apart and put back together in other locations, sometimes without stock parts and sold as basically new..just worried about a scam. I ran the vin number through a vin site with no records returned, which I assume mean it has not been reported stolen.

I just wouldn't buy anything used unless I saw it in person so I could inspect it.

I would want to see it in person, ride it and make sure it hasn't been dropped. I could see if someone can't make the payment and needs to move it, just be cautious.

I'm trying to get my hands on one now, but i'd still be cautious.

Here's a tip.... tell him you have a friend at a dealer who wants to check it out first and see what kind of response you get. Either that or some variation of that story.
