Not sure what to get, Help me PLEASE!
Guys, I had a GSXR 750 which I just sold, It was an older one so Im looking into getting an up to date modern looking bike. Theres a guy locally that is selling his 04 CBR 1000rr which is in mint condition.
Anyway I have been reading on this site that the 1000rr is a hard bike to handel and its not as agile as like a 600 or so. Im like 6 foot with about 169lbs and my 750 was awesome, and handeled very well in the canyons and what not, but I could use the extra punch that the 1000rr would give me. Im just afraid of having a big clunky bike to wind around corners. Does anyone agree with this or is this something that I wont notice at all. I love canyon riding, theres quite a few spots where I live. Just curious if you all have any input you can give me. Thanks

I wouldn't describe a 1000RR as clunky at all.But without some custom suspension setup it probably won't perform the same as the 750. Can't speak for the 04, but my 06 has some pretty stiff fork springs for my weight (160), which make it a litte difficult to corner at speed. But you won't get comparable power out of a 750. Stock power on the 1000RR is massive.

Welcome to the site. Have you looked online to compare the weight of your older 750 to a newer 1krr? While it is true that a 600 may be more nimble, much of this depends on technique an experience. Depending on the age of your old bike and your experience, you might find that the newer Honda is far better because of it's technology, things like suspension, steering damper, ect.
The only liter bike I've ridden is my buddy's r1, and I will say this though, they are crazy fast and demand respect. I also found it's physical size took a bit of getting used to as well.
Good luck with your decision, and let us know how you make out.

Well like I said, my liter bike experience is limited to say the least. In the mean time, you might want to post your question/concern in the cbr1000rr forum. I wouldn't be surprised if there some members there who may have had these same concerns at one time. Good luck.
Hahaha I should have said. "If you haven't already"

Im am sure your 93 GSXR is a great bike, however, the bike is over a decade old. I am not slamming your bike, I am just saying that any of the new literbikes will probably handle better than your '93 750 (they weigh a lot less than your old bike also)
My previous bike was a 93 CBR900RR. My new bike is the 06 1000RR. It felt like a 600 on steroids... and my old bike suddenly felt like a Goldwing.

Good luck on your purchase! Keep in mind that technology will hit you in a big way going from a 93 to a 04. Eleven years of technology will amaze you for sure. I say this... because, on my "lowly" '07 600rr, I've had a chance to race a local guy running an early 90's gsxr 750. And while I was sure I'd lose to the larger displacement... technology proved me wrong. He launched better than I did every single race, but the raw engine and design of my new 600 quickly caught him and left him sitting there with his pants down by the time I hit second gear.
Soo... basically... be careful, this things going to be a beast from a whole different world. Modern 750 to 1K, I'd say there won't be too much of a difference, but that 11 year gap... be ready for a serious wake-up call. Welcome to the site and I can't wait for pic's!

Goodluck with your purchase!! .. you'll be amazed with the 1000rr. Respect it though because they are INSANE!!
Talking to one of my experienced riding buddy that has owned a 954, 600rr,and currently owns a1000rr. he said he wishes he still had his 600for theturns but in the straights he loves the 1000. But again his 600rr was an '05 and the 1000rr is an '06. So they both haverecent technology.
Going from a '93 to an '04 your not going to be able to tell the small draw backs the 1000 has in the turns. Its going to feel like the bike is on rails with the newer technology!
