Default newbie question about the clutch

So MSF teaches you to cover the clutch with all 4 fingers at all times, but I'm hearing proper technique is to cover with just 2. When I do that though, my other 2 fingers get squished when I pull the clutch in, and the clutch can still be pulled in further than that. I think the friction point is before my fingers are squished so maybe it doesn't matter and I should just deal with it... but should I be moving my other 2 fingers out of the way so I can pull the clutch all the way every time? Thanks!

Hello & Welcome!!

It's all 4...why would you want to chance half covering the clutch....it's one of the more important things you need![8D]

oh indeedy. a friend who takes his bike to the track (having done keith code classes, maybe others) says i should take the KC classes and unlearn some of the bad habits they teach in MSF, such as covering the clutch completely. He says you should cover the brake with 2 fingers and the clutch with 2 fingers. Never said why, but he has 19,850 more miles on a bike than I do so I'm inclined to listen.
