Newbie from Calgary, Alberta, Canada....

Hey Guys!...

I recently purchased a 1999 Honda CBR600F4 as my first bike, i get to pick it up tommorow morning ( 8hours from now ), with a friend and he's going to ride it back for me since i dont have my licence.... Yet....

The bike has 22,XXXkm's and runs really well, it has some minor scratches, cracks and a dent but it looks good overall, here are some pics....

I'm paying $4000cdn for it, i guess down in the US bikes are so much cheaper....

Anyways....

at first i was planning on taking bike school but it's booked up for the rest of the year, so thats a downer....

i learnquickly with anything, so i'm going to get my licence and take it slowly, my friend's going to help me learn and even my dad said it's like riding a bike ( pedal ), so i think i should be ok....

:)

That's too bad. The course is fun and the instructors are trained to teach things like accident avoidence and emergency braking. Anyway, just take it easy, stay within your limits, and treat the bike with respect ( that bike deserves it, you'll see) and you'll do fine.

Btw. there is is an M2 to M courseavailable, I believe you will be eligable after having the M2 for 18 months (On.)

Ok. The M1 is the beginners permit, you go to the Ministry office and write the test and your good to go. With these rules.
Noriding 1/2 hr. before sun set or until1/2 hr. after sun rise.
No passengers
0 blood alcohol
And no 400 series highways

After having a clean M1 for 60 days minimum to 90 days maximumyou go back to the Ministry and get your M2.
The only rule for the M2 is 0 blood alcohol ( which goes without saying really)

After having a clean M2 for 18 months minimum to 5 yrs. maximumyou go back to the Ministry where you will have a road test. Upon successful completion of the road test you receive your M and are fully licensed.

Make sure you get the next level before the max. time for each runs out or you start all over again at the previous level
These are Ontario rules so check out Alberta's. Go right now to Crappy Tire and get the rider's manuals. They will have all the info you need.
Good luck.

You were mis-informed. Quite different than here but still a graduated system.
Again, good luck
