Default Newbie

Well, I figure I'll make a newbie post. I just bought my first bike about a week ago. I've rode before but its the first bike I can call my own . I found this site and figured it might come in handy.

Just a little about the bike... Its a 2000 600 f4 with about 14k miles thats orange and black. I'm assuming that this is a rare color because I have yet to see another one on the road. I paid 4500 for the bike, it might be a tad high but to me knowing how the bike was treated was worth the few extra dollars. The bike is pretty much mint condition, there are no scratches/dents/blemishes on it what so ever. The only mod right now is a two brothers carbon fiber slip on. I plan on putting a integrated tail light and flush mounts up front during the winter. The way the stock ones stick out is just silly. I also plan on going +2-3 teeth on the rear sprocket and a 520 chain when the time comes to get a new one.

I've been riding it around as much as the weather permits but its getting cold out . I'll try to post some pictures up tomorrow.

Yeah the orange/black combo is a little rare, dont see too many of them around.
Are you going +2 frt, -3 rear? If so why?
You'll probably just need a -1 ft/ +2 rr sprocket setup with the 520 chain.

Its pretty much like gearing a car.. If you're into muscle cars... Its like replacing a 3.73 ring/pinion with a 4.10. It makes you accelerate faster but while doing so makes your top speed lower. The 520 chain is a lighter/thinner chain which lets you get a few more ponies from the bike (less turning mass)

But, I was just planning on doing +3 to the rear or -1 on the front I guess would work too. I'm at work but pics will come when I get home!

Welcome to the site. I would recommend going with the -1 upfront instead of the +3 in back. Easier installation and a cheaper price
