Default New to Riding and need CBR advise

Hi there, been around bikes, drag cars my whole life, but im new to riding and am taking my MSF BRC course in the coming weeks, I have bought all my gear and am going to pick out my bike this weekend. I have my heart set on the CBR 600f4i, can you guys give me any suggestions on what year to get and what the differences are, I have mostly found ones within the money that I am willing to spend (under $5K) from 2001-2003. Anything I should watch out for, any upper limit on miles when I buy one.

Really appreciate the help, I want to make sure I make an educated purchase.

Thanks!

Do you have any friends that are familiar with motorcycles? If you do then take them along with you and let them test ride. If you have been around drag racing all your life then listen for abnormal noises in the motor while at idle. I.E. engine knocking, Idle fluctuations

Welcome to the site. The only real difference is that 01-03 have a split seat configuration where as the 04-06 have a single seat (or banana seat). Opinions vary, but it is generally agreed that while the split seat has a more sporty look it is less comfortable than the banana. As far as milage goes there is a member of this forum who's on an 04 with 90,000 on it. So I would suggest you shop around until you find a good deal on one of course with as few miles as possible and you will have a great bike.........Good luck with your search, and welcome again.
