Default New rider . Uk

Hi everyone.
I'm a week old 40 year old biker and very new to all this. I got a 1992 cbr600 fn and finding it hard to relax going around corners. Is this a common thing or is it just me? Any advice welcome.

Welcome to the forum and riding Jim.

It's just you.
Force yourself to relax. Tension while riding leads to bad inputs and target fixation. Trust the bike. It is capable of so much more than you are right now. You will get more comfortable in time as you get more confidence, skills, and seat time. We were all there once..... Enjoy your new found hobby!

hi and welcome

agree with 74demon, just convince your self to relax, the bike is more than capable of hussling you round a corner, the more you ride the easier it will get

Cheers guys. I'm going to practise all weekend weather permitting. It's hard trying to get my head to trust the bike. It's more me trusting myself.

welcome to CBRF! its hard to relax because it's counterintuitive. if you tried to lean while standing still you'd fall over. so that's your natural reaction when new to riding. it's not uncommon. as you get some more miles under your belt - you'll become more comfortable.

Default Welcome

Hi,

As all the previous posts have said, just relax and don't overthink things and the enjoyment will increase over time & miles.

Whereabouts are you? I am in some groups that do convoy rides for inexperienced riders so these may help.

I live in Southend Essex. Maybe following others may be good for me

Welcome to the CBR Forum Jim,

Following someone who can corner smoothly is always a good thing. You will get used to it again. And welcome to the world of 2 wheels again!

Cheers, SB
