Default New rider

Just wanted to show off my new bike, wanted a streetbike for about 27 years and finally got a 95 cbr 900RR with a bore kit and a two brothers full exhaust. Since its my first bike I was kinda apprehensive about getting something bigger than a six but have enjoyed every moment of it so far. It keeps up pretty well against my buddy's gixxer 1000. I've got about 1400 miles on it so far and i've only had it for about 3 weeks now, if anybody has any good advice for a newbie on either riding it or any cool and easy mods a newbie can do hit me up.

Don't try to keep up with an experienced rider, if your buddy is... It's not a good thing to do with such little mileage under your belt, imo of course..

Welcome to the site, and grats on a bike after such a long wait ! Ride safe

That last post was from my *** roomate who is pissed that he only has a 10 speed, and would **** himself if he ever got on a real bike. You still will never ride my bike unless you have another bike to trade me for when you crash mine.

You asked for advice for a 'newbie', all I can say is don't try to keep up with more experienced/better riders, other than that, glad to have you on-board and have fun on that thing.

You will hear this a million times, but here it is again: "ride your own ride". It is hard to do in such a testosterone driven sport, but you have so many years to get faster. You have taken on a lot of cc's for your first bike, and you need to keep it in check. Good luck, and welcome to the site!

For sure, my neighbor has the repsol 1000 too and he pops wheelies all the time, which i have yet to do. I live minutes away from this stretch of road, 193 in northern california. I've probably logged 1000 miles on this highway alone. This week i've learned to keep your crap out of the storage area, because keys, cellphones, and cigarette packs tend to fly out. Keep them out of your jeans too, make sure you buy a backpack or riding pants.
