Default New member/rider and already a mishap

Just bought my first bike 3 weeks ago- a blue 04 600rr. Best purchase I've ever made.

2 days ago i'm on my way home from work. I get just 1 or 2 blocks away-bikes barely even warmed up yet- and a lady cut into my lane without looking and hit me from the side. So me and the bike went down doing maybe 35-40 mph. I went tumbling down the road and the bike slid on its right side across a lane and slammed into the median. I was wearing a helmet and leather jacket so i didn't get hurt too bad- but the bikes in pretty bad shape.

The lady got a ticket for improper lane usage and her insurance will be fixing the bike... still not real happy about the headache involved in all this and the down time where i have to wait to get my bike fixed. I think the lady was more shook up than i was after the accident. She was bawling her eyes out and ended up having her car towed home cuz she was too shook up to drive.

It sucks to have this as my first post. Hopefully i'll be back riding again soon.

take the money you get from the insurance, and buy aftermarket parts to fix whats broken, with the mone you save you should be able to get a sweet custom paint job just my 2cents.

welcome and sorry to hear about your accident. Glad to hear you are alright. I hope your bike is back on the road soon. Make sure the shop checks out the frame, if it slammed the median, it my not be, and in that case....they be replacing your scoot. Once again we lose another confrontation with or 4 wheeled road mates, think i am going to put a flashing yellow light on top of my shoei....

Welcome, glad you weren't hurt, most important (+1 on the gear). Just make sure everything checks out. Good luck gettin her back together.

AZ1000rr (Like the comment about the flashing yellow light on helmet) People on the road keep up their carelessness, I'm gettin one too.

glad to hear ur ok, i should probably invest in some gear other than my helmet because im sure i'll eventually suffer an accident. defiantely take the money and pick up aftermarket parts, search on ebay u'll be able to put the entire bike together for a fraction of the cost if u were to go OEM products from a dealer or something

This is really bad luck! Hope you get well soon and the repairs to your bike does not take to long.

In almoust 30 years of riding, all the accedents that I was involved in was in town and all but one was due to a motorist not being fully aware of me on my motorcycle. This has taught me to " THINK MOTORIST" in other words assume that the person behind the wheel of a car does not know/care about you on your bike!!!
