New member looking at bike: opinions/suggestions wanted!

First of all was up to everyone... I'm looking at a 1999 CBR 600F4. 9,000 miles small scratch on the tail. Other then exhaust it is completely stock. He is asking $3,500 and I wasthinking about spending $3,200 max.do you think this is a pretty good deal. I have not seen the bike in person so I can't tell you exactly how the tires are and he says there are no leaks, with a clear title. What do you think?

That was my first bike, in yellow and black, and I absolutely LUVED IT. Got it new in the summer of 99' and sold it in dec 03' with 28,000 miles on it. Had a yosh pipe, k&n air filter, and was geared down. I sold it for $3,900.00 the first day it was published in bike trader. Been dropped once er twice, minor scratches. I regreted selling that thing ever since. I'd try to git him down to 3,000. What a great bike though

Welcome i think that is a good price if the bike is in good shape.

Definitely a nice bike. Price seems reasonable, but see if you can talk him down a bit. Good luck!

$3,200 doesn't sound too bad if it's in good shape. Offer 3K or a little less and see what happens.

Here's a trick I learned from an "old horse trader". It has serious results!

Go get your $3200 cash. Pocket $2800 in your left pocket, $200 in your right, and the $100 in your left rear, then $100 in your right rear pocket. After you check it out for a while, if you decide you want it, start haggling with him. Shake him up with a $2500 offer and he'll most readily disagree. He'll probably throw back $3200 as his price. You know you got this on you, but don't let him know that. Reach into your left pocket and pull out that fatty wad of cash and start countin' through those hundred-dolla' bills right in front of him. When you get to $2800 (28 hundred dollar bills later), say "This is what I got man, right here, right now. What do you say?"

99% of the time, money talks. Seein' those green bills out there gets people to salivating. They'll come off more than they want to when they know the cash money is right before their eyes. If he's a 1%-er... you know you can go up in 100 or 200 incriments within your other pockets. But, I'd feel safe saying that you'll walk away with enough money in your pockets to pay for some insurance, get a new helmet, or trick out somethin' new on your shiny new bike!
