New member, looking at a 1000F tomorrow
Hey everyone, figured I had better sign up as there is a good chance I'll be a CBR owner tomorrow! Found a deal on a supposedly good running '90 1000F w/ a nearly complete parts bike. I've only seen a pic so far but we'll see what turns up.
I live just outside of Chicago. I like projects, most recently I picked up a '75 CB550K that will NOT be getting cafe'ed! I'm doing a stock frame up resto on the cheap to make a daily driver out of it. My other bike is a '95 VT1100C2 and that has been my daily for the past 4-5 years and 15,000+ miles. That will be getting sold to make more room.
I'm also a yota nerd. Below is the CB as I bought it in the bed of my rebuilt '94 w/ the AK47 of truck engines: 22RE and a 5 speed! It's some slow fun for sure.

Welcome to CBRF!
Good to hear that you're going to do a resto on your ole CB. I really like the classic Hondas. Feel free to do a re-build/resto thread for your project here on the forum.
Good luck w/ the 1000F. As your experienced, you know what to look for. Hope its a good one that you can take home.
I've had two Toyota 4x4's & have a 4R now. Got to love the dependability. :-)
Look forward to seeing & hearing more about your project. Good to have you w/ us.

Man, thanks! I've gathered that the cam chain and R/R are the weak links. This seller said he put a new R/R and stator on it and apparently the cam chain noise quiets down once warm. Also clutch and gears are supposedly good (no 2nd gear slip I guess) and he's got new tires and brakes. Sounds good so far to me, we'll see what happens on price.
and yeah, love the yota reliability! I'll be sure to swing by the saloon too even though I'm not sure about "virtual" beer!

Got it
This may be for sale along w/ a lot of other spare parts. It's mint besides a little ding on the top.
The parts bike is pretty complete w/ a good engine/trans.
I got all that w/ a spare bank of carbs and coils for $1500. His asking price was so good I couldn't bring myself to get him to go lower!
