New Guy from Utah

New member to CBRForum but not new to forums....

My name is Paul, I'm a retired Veteran of the US Navy and US Marine Corps. I spent 6 years on Nuclear Submarines before crossing over to the Marines where I became a EOD Specialist for an additional 10 years. I served in both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans on various missions. I currently work as a Maintenance Mechanic for a locally owned chain of Fully Automatic and Full Service Car Washes of which our Orem, UT location is the Largest Car Wash in North America. I love the game of Golf, Dodge Chargers of which I own 2 and have been riding motorcycles since before I could ride a bicycle at age 3 and have been a licensed motorcycle rider since the age of 15 where in Colorado it was legal to get a motorcycle license before you could get a Car license which was age 16 back then.

I'm now 41 and recently started a new build on a 93 CBR900rr "basket case" that came to me through a partial trade for a work truck I was selling. Long story short, I received a rough 900rr missing all of the fairings but came with a running 900rr motor in the original frame. However the gas tank is moshed badly and I would really like to find one in better shape. It also came with a complete 600f2 motor, f1 front forks, f2 rear wheel/swingarm assembly and f2 exhaust header.

This bike has a complete f2 front assembly and triple installed so that the 17" wheel is up front but the guy put a f2 rear wheel/tire on the 900rr swingarm and it doesn't have the correct wheel spacers so I'm looking for a 900rr rear wheel/tire to put on it. It came with lots of spare parts as he was piecing together something custom but I have no use for most of them. I have an original 900rr passenger seat for it also.

So my dilemma is that I have decided to build a Street Fighter 900rr on a small budget so that I have a really cool ride for small drives up mountain curves and something to commute 17 miles to work with on good weather days. I will be searching the forums as much as possible to gain knowledge and to share my experiences along the way. Please bear with me as I work a lot of hours and I'm getting ready to leave on a vacation with my family for a couple of weeks so I will really be getting busy on this project the end of August/beginning of September.

Thanks CaBaRet and Conrice.....

I wasn't sure I would really get into the "Fighter" scene as I've been a "crotch-rocket" fan my whole life but as I get older it seems that less is more!

How many posts until we are able to see pictures in other threads and be able to post without moderation?
